Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a veterinarian/clinic in the islands. Willing to pay high costs and/or travel to a different island to get the best care for my dog! Thank you!

Jen

What island are you on? If you're on St. Thomas, I use Dr. Williamson but Dr. Moore is also good.

I'm on St. Thomas but as I said I'm willing to go to any island for a good vet. What clinic are Dr. Williamson and Dr. Moore at and what is the phone number? Thank you!

Island Animal Clinic in St. Croix is my primary vet and has been for 10 plus years. Dr. Paul Hess has a lot of experience, knows a lot about local health problems and most important of all LOVES animals more than he loves money.

I've never used Dr. Canton but many like him and I hear he is good. (Progressive Veterinary Services) He is a local boy come back to work on the island and has been here several years.

Dr. Stacia Boswell ( SugarMill) has the most impressive clinic. She has been here about 4 years and trained under Dr. Hess and then at the Animal Shelter. Her facility is the newest. Call for appointment as they just opened in last 60 days.

I'd say St. Croix has some really great vets and if my pets were in danger I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them!

Sugar Mill is new and fancy but I know Dr Casey will take my calls at 2am if something happens and he'll also open up the clinic after hours is something major happens to your dogs. That is worth much more then a new fancy office to me. 🙂 I'm sure they're nice but Casey has gone the extra mile for us many times and hes been very pleasant when these things happened, very sweet guy.

I'm glad to hear Dr Stacia Boswell has opened her own clinic. I saw her when she was working with Dr Hess, and I was very impressed. She has a very kind, calm manner with the animals (the dog I took to her is rather nervous), is thorough and knowledgeable, and explains what she is doing and why. I always like to be involved in the health care of my animals, and don't like to feel that I am bothering someone by asking too many questions. She definitely would be my # 1 choice.

I agree with Betty, Dr Canton has opened on weekends to deal with emergencies. He is pretty much on call 24/7. That is more important to me than anything.
Plus he is an excellent Vet.

Sugar Mill Veterinary Center is so much more than just a new office - Dr Boswell has invested in the best training and state of the art equipment to be able to offer the best care possible. She is very dedicated to serving the animals of St Croix at all hours of the day and night.

Sugar Mill Veterinary Center is also open on weekends . . . open Monday - Saturday and available 24/7 for emergencies. You can reach SMVC at 718-0002 and the emergency number is 227-5627. Call to make an appointment to avoid a wait but walk ins are always welcomed.

What island are you on? If you're on St. Thomas, I use Dr. Williamson but Dr. Moore is also good.

Williamson killed my cat, & my friends dog 3 months ago(she was very upset, Williamson told her to go make a baby instead!!!!!!).
Me, I would have kicked his old a$$, if he didn`t have my cats privates in his hand(my cat had a urinary blockage) when he was RUDE with me(and you all think I have a bug up MY a$$, you should get a earfull of this erm, man)!

Regarding Moore:
We just got a cat last month from the Humane Society, we asked that he be neutered.
Even though Williamson is across the street, we ask for Moore(also heard good things, & you can hardly do worse than Williamson).
They cut our kitten in the stomach, & told my wife her cat was done.
When she asked why his stomach was shaved, & there was stitches, she explained that is what needs to needs to done with female cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife said, but this cat is a MALE!,
She back tracked & said"the paperwork we got from the Humane Society said it was a female!
My wife took the kitty home, & was upset, it took her several hours before she could tell me how sorry she was that Moore cut our cat!
We both waited a couple days almost in tears hoping this poor cat wouldn't die from a unnecessary incision.
I`m happy to say the cats OK! Thank God!
I know I`m not allowed to call our professionals/tradesman/taxi drivers/ Doctors/Vets INCOMPETENT, (everyone here is So wonderful, so professional & polite, it`s not a vets fault they didn`t notice the GENDER of my kitty!)
To all whom think I believe (most) workers are terrible...
Really but, if the above were not so awful, I wouldn`t speak badly of them!

I know you're looking for a fight but I must say, you seem to hate everything on STT. Maybe since you think everyone is a mental midget here you remain because it makes you feel superior??? I don't know. However, your experiences with Dr. Williamson & Dr. Moore are the exact opposite of everyone I personally know & my own experiences. When I've had pets die, Andy Williamson has been nothing but kind to me (if you can imagine the old grump hugging me as I cried) and also he sends donations to animal research at Cornell, his alma mater, by the way whenever a pet passes. He has saved 5 different animals I personally know of that other vets misdiagnosed & couldn't help & he saved them. I don't know what went on in your case with your cat but those are MY experiences & those I personally know of. I think his bedside matter can stink but I don't doubt his ability at all & would use him even if I were in the States.

One dog I had I KNOW he took home & sat up with her all night until she passed away. So go ahead & follow me from post to post & rag on me but don't send me any PM's. I'm sorry when anyone loses a pet & I've certainly lost my share but it was NEVER due to the care they received from Dr. Williamson.

Trade. I`m sorry that me & my friends had the exact OPPOSITE experience you & yours did, don`t fault me for that!
I hope Andy donated my check & my friends(who was forced to square away right there, right now when the owners were so very distraught).

On the contrary,"I don`t hate everything on STT", I don`t care for the workmanship(or lack thereof) & I don`t care for MOST taxi drivers!
I like the beaches & most of the island elders, I have many other young local friends i enjoy too(I just wouldn`t hire them to work for me).
Yes, I have seen many fail miserably here & I tell it like it is, you can`t fault me for others incompetence, I wish it wasn`t this way here, unfortunately it is.

Finally, your quote:
"So go ahead & follow me from post to post & rag on me but don't send me any PM's."
Trade, even though we share the same opinions on taxi drivers & government employees, you want to distance your self from someone like minded,me.
Fine, go ahead!.
And Trade, I have not felt compelled to PM you in over a year here, why would I start now??(your not all that interesting, admit it, you wonder what I will be speaking the truth about next, that`s why YOU followed ME....OK,I must admit, I Do enjoy your Taxi digs!).
And, if you PM`d ME after this post against me, I think you know what you can do with that PM!
I don`t wish to fight, I just want to be realistic!
I want to help when I can, but realize the level of expertise that one can expect here.

If you want to start over with me, fine, if you want to follow me instead & mess with me(as you have been), I`m more than ready for whatever you can dish out(if I didn`t agree what some of the things you post, I`d even look forward to it)
Me, I`d prefer to fix things even though it wasn`t me who went out of my way to post against you(my last post was a response to your post that you felt compelled to do before which I had nothing negative to express with you & I thought we even had some kind of rapport).
I would expect you to do the same to ANYONE, I would think less of you if you didn`t stand up as I did!

The balls in your court, how do yoiu wish to proceed?
