I've got an Emmy Award, will that get me anything?

I hate saying it but, I'm an Emmy Award Winning Editor looking for opportunities in the VI's. My wife and I went on our honeymoon in St.Croix and fell in love with the island. I'll edit whatever you put in front of me. I also have some shooting ability and plenty of set and studio experience. I'm currently the editor for CourtTV's Forensic Files. If anyone knows anybody please pass along the info.

St.Croix is most likely NOT where you'd find production work.

Mr. Hensel,

There is work going undone in every occupational field on St. Croix. It may not be a matter of finding work (getting hired, although this is a possibility) but of creating work for yourself (opening up your own business and competing against what already exists). Yours truly and many other transplants who love St. Croix have done just this and we are achieving success. If you have a college degree and work experience, you are way ahead of the game. The phonebook is always a great place to start: www.viphonebook.com. Good luck.

Well, as far as you being a "SHOE" in, I cannot predict this. BUT...............
I, for one, read the settlers handbook front to cover (I suggest you get one too!)
In the book there is a little snipit under Film Industry that reads: "The territory has some full sevice production companies and a handful of supporting companies.................."
It seems a lot of commercials, movie beach scenes and some daytime tv has been filmed on the islands and they use local companies in the production. It says to call the department of tourism at 774-8784 and their film promotion office! They may be able to direct you to these companies.
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the info. I sometimes use the emmy as a fishing line. I like to throw it out there in an attempt to find work. I'm probably going to have to start my own thing up in order to make it. I will use the info you have provided to see if there is a chance that I could supplement my income while trying to get my own thing started.
