Hello Everone

I arrive on Tuesday and have been running ever since trying to set up as much as I can before start work. My first few hours were tear filled, but today I am in a different mode. I had to leave my dog in the airport in Washington, DC. I thought if I traveled at night I could actually get him on board. The temperature was two degrees over the limit. Now I am on the phones with the different ailrlines trying to see what I can do to get him here, and watching the temperature forcasts. Taking care of business has had me out and about all day. I have to get everything done efore night falls becuase I could get lost easily. I ahve gotten lost and found that the address did not help, neither did the route numbers. It was fun geeting lost when my sister was here she left today. There is really not much else to tell about my arrival to STX, but I am starting to feel good about my decision to take the leap. I hope to get to the beach party. If so I see everyone then.

How large is your dog, Melody? If they are under 100 lbs. they can fly with someone on USAir for $100 extra...over 100, and you have to cargo them out and wait on the weather to change.

FYI -

USAir will officially stop pets from coming on board on 10/1, or so I was told today - they are merging with another company. No oxygen, pets, and something else (can't remember what) - and that means as extra luggage or as cargo. Get your dog out now while you can. We are paying for our son and a friend to bring two dogs to us - cheaper than cargo-ing.

Good luck - pm me privately if you want - you and I will get lost together on the island!

Stick with american they were great. We have a bassett hound that we flew in with. We originally had connecting flights and when they saw the dog they changed us to a direct flight w/o us even asking and that was from NY in March

Thanks Ann - but my dogs are coming from a regional airport in Arkansas - the planes with other airlines there aren't big enough to cargo them...so we are stuck getting them out by USAir's due date, or transporting two very large Rottweilers to Dallas, Texas, by car, a 5 hour trip...somebody pray for cool weather for the mainland!
