Looking to move to STJ preferably but possibly STT and I am curious about the job market. I am willing to bar tend but is it better to do so at a resort of local place? Also, I would LOVE to do wedding planning... does anyone know someone who does this on the island or work at a resort where they are in need of a wedding coordinator? I have been in Marketing/Sales/Real Estate... anyone know of someone hiring in these fields also?? I can't come down until I have a job locked down so please help get me out of the states!!!

It's difficult/almost impossible to lock down a job unless you're here. Most employers don't want to talk to you unless you're here. Economy isn't good here just like it's bad in the States.

Economy isn't good here but I still feel like its better then stateside. Maybe because as islanders you learn to toughen up and make do with less. Its always expensive here and jobs have always been tougher to get, at least on stx. So you learn to hustle and do without alot. With the cruise ships coming again to stx I can't help to be optimistic, I'm no Pollyanna but it doesn't seem as dire here to me. Also with it so hard to get a home here, I haven't heard of anyone loosing theirs.

But as Trade said you will have to be here to get any of those jobs. They are definitely here and if you willing to wait tables while one opens up you should be able to get it especially if your sales and marketing skills are good and you have the experience to back it up. Good Luck.
