I was sad to see the hospital has lost its Medicare/Medicaid certification. Seems like that will be a horrible blow to the Island's wellbeing. As a critical care nurse, I was thinking of making the move to STX but now I'm going to have to wait and see where this all ends up. Not sure a move now would be the best idea, especially since JFL would be my only real employment option on STX. I hope they quickly get their act together. Is there any talk of what the plan for the hospital is now???

They were given an extension some time ago. Not that it will matter much. They will likely lose accreditation shortly.

I have bee watching this story and haven't heard anything about the survey that was supposed to happen in August. The last article I saw said they were 97% ready for it. I would be very surprised if they loose their certification because the hospital means so much to the Island. Of course I am not an expert and there is also some wishful thinking in there because I am a nurse and want to move to the Islands.

Well like I said I'm no expert. I just found 2 articles that said they did loose their certification in the VI consortium.

I've not seen anything new. CMS was supposed to do their survey last month. If they did no one is talking.

This article summarizes the current state of CMS certification at JFL:
http://stcroixsource.com/content/news/local-news/2015/06/05/government-scrambling-rectify-decertification-only-vi-nursing-hom

"The Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital faced similar decertification in 2014, after an inspection unearthed a litany of patient harm incidents. Since then, CMS put JFL on a probationary status and allowed JFL to continue to receive payments in the interim."
