Just wondering?

So, I keep hearing that I need to plan a pre-move trip before I move to STX. I will try, but I am also not worried if I don't, b/c I picked up and moved with my family to Tokyo, Japan and I loved it. I became fluent enough in the language in 3 months. Now granted I know the Islands are not the same as Japan, Im just saying I love to travel and experiencing other cultures. I hope I will be able to adjust as easily there. My family will not be moving with me, but I think my best friend is, so at least I will know someone. I just have a lot of possible misconceptions and maybe stupid questions that have probably been asked a million times before, but thank you all for indulging me! So here goes once again....Is the HIV rate as much of a concern there as it is stateside?

joony,

This link breaks down HIV cases in the USVI by island, gender, and race: http://www.aidsaction.org/communications/publications/statefactsheets/pdfs/virginislands_2003.pdf
