foltzie - I had two of my sons living here with me in a condo our first year on-island. They liked it well enough even though it was a very different experience for them from their previous live as we had always owned a large home on the mainland. They would have liked it even better had the complex we lived in had other kids their ages. It was pretty quiet and sparsely populated and we didn't have any of their classmates living nearby. Fortunately they like hanging out together and were able to keep each other entertained when they were spending time at home.

I just sold a condo at Questa Verde to a family who had previously rented there. When their rental condo sold, they had to move out of the complex and moved into one of the rental houses I manage. Their children liked living at the condo complex so much and had so many friends and activities there that they were pretty depressed living in a house even though it was large with a yard and room to play and there were neighbor children they soon met. The parents decided they really needed to buy a condo at the complex and move back to make their children happier, so they did.

I think it depends on your children and the specific complex you select as to whether they will enjoy the lifestyle.

Just as every child is different so is every school. Your child's needs will vary from other children also. Keeping this in mind, the best advice I can offer is for you to visit the school you are considering, preferably during school hours. After the visits, many school on the island offer a "visitation day" where the child and/or the child and parent spend anywhere from an hour to a week in the perspective classroom. This will allow you to get a better idea of the students who will be with your child, the teacher, the routines and the type of curriculum.

Manor school is a small school K-12 that is able to provide customized lessons for each child in the elementary school. The elementary school used to be Montessori but switched to a traditional program last year. Stop in for a visit and I will be glad to show you around.
