This report by the Community Foundation is important background regarding the state of the US Virgin Islands: http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/index.pl/article_home?id=17602382. I hope that some of the recommendations are implemented.

The ray of hope on the horizon is the appointment of Chris Finch - one of the most amazing people that I have ever met. He has done wonders 'outside' the system with a malevolant despot at the helm...now let's see what he can do with the backing of the 'new' order.

Then that sounds like definite good news as long as the nominees can get past the Senate. I'm thrilled to pieces that Beverly Nicholson-Doty is up for Tourism. Couln't pick a better person, IMO. Totally solid background & what's good for tourism is good for most else.
