Hello all,

I am selling my Kite Board for the best offer I receive. From $1.00 to $500.00 (what I paid for it). Anyone want to learn how to ride the waves of Saint Croix?! My cell phone is 340-277-3765. It's a 2001. has all parts: kite, harness gear, wave board... more details upon request.

Thanks a bunch,

April C. Yount

in Kiteboarding, a 2001 is pretty much obsolete, isn't it? The sport is young and the equipment is changing very, very fast.

For those who are interested in the sport, but don't know how to get started... there is a great instructor available on the island. He competes internationally and is one of the best in the sport. You can do an intensive 3-lesson package in which you first learn to operate the kite walking along the beach and then how to do "body drags" in the water and finally the board is added to the mix in lesson 3. His rates aren't all that bad and use of gear is included during the lessons. Maybe it's worth finding out if you like the sport before you buy equipment. Different body types need different size kites and gear, which the instructor can help you figure out before you invest in your own set-up. PM me if you would like the instructor's name and phone number to learn more about what he offers. You will see many of his past students out kiting along Coakley Bay most any afternoon now that the wind has picked back up.

My son took lessons last summer and was up on the board by lesson 3. My husband and two step-sons also tried it out and now don't want to do much of anything else when the wind is blowing.

If you take lessons and it turns out that April's gear is the right size for you and not too out of date... then by all means take her up on the deal. New gear is pretty expensive. Some of the new kitesurfers get their gear through the instructor, who is also a manufacturer's rep for at least one line of kites and others buy things on eBay once they know what they should be looking for.

Be sure to post this on the Classified Forum here as well if somebody hasn't taken you up on the offer yet.

I know April and I also know she probably won't check this. Call her number.
