Flight training shouldnt be taken lightly, and I'm not so sure I would undertake flight training in the Virgin Islands.

In the states you could take a proffesional course and get a private in about 3 weeks for less money.

Although it is possible to receive excellent training at any flight school... in my experience (airline pilot) it is HIGHLY unlikely to find it at a small school like the one your looking at.

Danielle,

I have a buddy who got his pilot license on St. Thomas or perhaps started on the mainland and got his necessary air time locally. I will see about getting more info. for you.

Danielle,
Two days ago I heard an ad on the radio for flying lessons with an offer for the first lesson free! That sounds like something perfect for you to test out the waters first.
I will try to catch it again and get back to you.

Danielle,

I asked my friend - he didnt know Captain Al, however if it is similar to the Flying School on St. Thomas then this is his opinion about his St. Thomas experience.

"The FFA requirements are the same here as they are in the states. The rates are a bit higher here then in the states. However you have great weather for flying all the time. It was a wonderful experience, good instructors, the equipment was responsiably good for training - I was in Cesna 172 skyhawks... many schools in the states use the smaller 152; so that was a plus."

It took him about three months and he can pilot a single engine plane - its a private pilot license.

Hope that helps.
