You will have to present your old license to get a VI license, or start from scratch and take the written and road tests. The might check your history. There are no temporary licenses.

They're very lax about stuff like that here. I'd just play dumb and present my current license as if it were valid. The worse that can happen is they deny you and make you start from scratch, which isn't that hard anyway. Good luck!

You are required to present your most recent three year driving record as well as a current stateside driver’s license in order to get a VI license.

There is correspondence between VI and your previous state licensing agency. Your stateside license will be cancelled after you get a VI license.

you will need to qualify for auto insurance too.

If your license is suspended in the states or any other damn place, we don't want you driving on our roads either!

vicanuck's advice used to work, but computer records are a lot more connected now than a few years back due to REAL ID - so you're risking a fraud charge on top of that suspension if you try it.
