Hello!

I was wondering if there was a local reperatory theatre in St. Thomas? I am a local Seattle actor hoping to transplant next summer. Does anyone know of any theatres or even if there is demand for live theatre on the islands?

Let me know, give me feeback! (Pos and neg. warmly welcomed)

Thanks!

AJ

On STT, I know the Pistarckle Theater enjoys a good reputation and healthy attendance.
Check out their site for future productions and audition dates:

Also, I believe the University has a program that does outside casting.
Break a leg!

Hello AJ,

You can look into these three places...

Pistarckle as Onika mentioned is a good one. Contact Nicky Emerich there and see what the specifics are. They have a summer camp for kids also if you do any teaching, coaching.. you might ask about that.

The Little Theatre at UVI -
you can read an article about them at
http://www.uvi.edu/pub-relations/magazine/mag_2000summer/littletheater.html
The contact people there are Dr. Rosary Harper and Dr. Parker... both are UVI Professors of Speech and Theatre.
[email protected]

The Reichhold Center of Performing Arts -
www.reichholdcenter.com/
David Edgecombe I believe is still the director there. [email protected]

Are you looking to do this as a full time job - if so you will need to have a "day job". We don't have any every night live performance venues where an actor could work everyday doing performances. The Little Theatre puts on one or two plays a year, usually each semester. Pistarckle has one it seems every other month, and they run for like 2 evenings for 3-4 weeks. And Reichhold is about to start renovations so will have limited performances for the next season... and in general they have various venues per season... bands, ballets, orchastras, poetry, choirs and maybe 2 plays - something along those lines.

Good Luck.

Thank you Onika and Islander. I tried looking up the theatre before on another website, but it was a bad link. I am looking to pursue acting as a side job. I just needed to know if the outlet was there. THANK YOU! I will definately look into more on UVI and Reichhold. I appreciate the detailed info.

THANKS A TON!
AJ
