Local markets - any organic?

Hi all, wondering if anyone can suggest the best place to buy fresh vegetables, fruit, even meat? Or is there a specific day of the week that the food is the freshest in the stores (While visiting we went to "Pueblo" on a Thursday and the vegetables looked pretty "tired"). Also, are there any organic or health food stores on the island?

Marina market has some of the freshest meat and was voted Best Meat Dept on the Island by VI Daily News readers poll.

Marina market actually has some organic products.

Hello,

http://www.schoonerbaymarket.com/ has a nice selection. Not sure what days Pueblo and Plaza do their stocking - hopefully a St. Croix resident will give you that insight.

Also last time I was over there, I stopped at Southgate Farms and they had fresh veges. Ric, Linda, Gaston... is Southgate still open?

Southgate Farms is still open. They are only open certain days and times, however. The sign near their entrance (across from Cheeseburgers in Paradise) lists their operating hours. Also try the new Cost U Less produce department, which is much larger than its predecessor's. Plaza West has the best produce of any of the grocery stores.
