Hello all! Happy Friday!!!

I am looking for either a trained/or talented enough horse to be trained for jumping,( and possibly polocrosse). I am 5'10 so I would prefer 16 hands or above.
I am also looking for a gentle pony for my beginner rider daughter. no real requirements, just gentle, good with kids and patient.
I have already tried the regular routes, talked to some great people who tried ot help and still are, however, as wel all know nothing happens quickly here!
Just FYI I've been to the racetrack etc etc in case you might suggest it.
I just have this feeling there are good families out there that either there kids have outgrown or they no longer have time for!

thanks so much for your time,
Lindsay

Have you talked to the horse people over here on St Thomas? I know there is or was a pony club, also there is a group that does rescue work with the race horses. You might try the Humane Society for names and numbers.

The rescue group that East Ender mentioned, here is some information on them:

"VICCTRE (Virgin Islands Community Cooperative Thoroughbred Retirement Effort) has rehabilitated, either by rescue or retirement, an impressive 25 horses to date. The grassroots non-profit organization, since its beginning in June 2004, has never had a day without a horse to take care of. Currently, they house some un-adopted horses at their St. Thomas Dairies facility along with a few that were adopted and continue to board there. VICCTRE has filled a void in the animal welfare system in the Virgin Islands by providing an alternative retirement for any horse needing a home. Recognized as the Community Advocate of the Year by the local humane society and acknowledged by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) of the United States, the oldest and largest equine welfare organization in the world, VICCTRE has established itself as committed to the welfare of abandoned horses. Its permanence alone makes it the first of its kind in the V.I. and according to TRF, the first in the Caribbean. For more information contact: Lynn 340-998-0331."

Lindsay - have you tried the folks over on St. Croix that offer horse back riding? There is a company on St. John that does horseback riding as well and they might have some suggestion, their number is 340-693-5778.
