Ok, my husband is finally ready to move to STX this next summer...
I'm debating on bringing our dogs or not (we have 2-6yr old siberian huskies) as their my babies and I don't want to leave them BUT i'm also wondering what would be best for them. We own a condo in St.C (a little over a year now) but it doesn't allow pets so if we did bring them, we've have to find another place to live (and probably rent the condo long-term). I know it's a long way off but are pet-friendly rentals that hard to find (and yes, i know it's easier if you're on-island)?

Also, how hard would it be to find a job in the summer? probably july? he's in IT currently but willing to do anything and I'm in real estate, willing to do almost anything 🙂 he just figures it's now or never for this move.

ok, i could ramble on a lot more as my mind is overflowing with thoughts/questions but i'll leave it at that for now! thanks!

Amanda,
You need to remember that the airlines will not fly large dogs after May 15th (I think that's the date), because of the heat. If you're coming in the summer, you'll need to get on island before that with your animals. You might want to come down and stay at your St. C condo, then in the fall bring your pets down after you get situated. Is there someone in the states that can "pet-sit" them for you? When I first moved to STX, I left my animals in care of friends until we got settled and bought a house. And you're right, it's best to be on island to find a pet-friendly house to rent.
