Hello-

I have been offered a temporary job assignment down in the USVI starting at the end of May lasting 6 months with the possibility of a 6 month extension. I am SO EXCITED to be living and working in the USVI and was thrilled to come across this website with great information and a message board. Thank you to the facilitators and contributors. I'm a 30 year old female, returned Peace Corps Volunteer and current US federal employee who loves tennis, running, scuba diving, cold beers, and meeting new people.

I am looking for a 2 BR apartment/condo for rent in a safe, easily accessible area without too much noise in the evening. Looking for fully furnished, reliable internet connection, and W/D. While I will be down there solo, I wanted to get a 2BR so family and friends can come visit on the weekends. Most of my work will be in St. Thomas and St. Croix and I'm leaning towards finding a place on St. Thomas.

My plan is to stay in a hotel for my first week or two until securing a longer term housing option. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. I may also be looking for a car to rent as well (unless it would be worth transporting my Camry down there for a year from Washington DC - likely not?)

If anyone has a lead on an apartment for rent, please let me know! It's important that I have proper documentation (lease, payment receipt, etc) for reimbursement purposes.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting some of you in a few months.

Maggie

I was told I would be meeting with people from both islands. Is there a boat between St. Croix and St. Thomas?

No ferry. St Croix is 40 miles away from STT. If your main work is going to be on STT then you'll stay on that island and commute when necessary to STX and vice versa. The people you work for didn't tell you this?

You should rent in an area convenient to your employment unless you work from home. Traffic on St Thomas can be very frustrating so best to be close.

Federal and territorial government employees do commute by plane between St. Thomas and St. Croix. Where is your office? That would be the island to live on. 😉

On St. Thomas, there are two bedroom condos at Cowpet, Crystal Cove, Seacliff Villas, probably a few more I can't think of at the moment. Probably will run $2500/month or so. Did you post in the classifieds section here?
