Looking for car in STX

We are moving to STX in mid October and need to find an island car. I am unable to bring my car because I still owe on a bank loan, although the company I am relocating with will relo a car. Should I buy one here and have it shipped or should I wait until we arrive in STX?? Are there car dealerships to check out??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Also, any thoughts on a pet friendly neighborhood on the east end of STX???

Thanks,
Marty

Did you try talking to your fiance company to get permission to bring the car down? It can still be brought down if you have a loan on it just need a letter from your bank giving permission.

There are car dealers here but the better deals are usually buying from regular car owners especially people who are leaving island.

Not really anything like a specific pet friendly neighborhood here....the islands are not like stateside. A few condo communities allow one dog (usually small). And with houses and apt attached to houses it depends on the landlord.

I would really suggest you read this board front to back....alot of information and it looks like you're just starting out. It will be extremely helpful and you will get questions answered you didnt think to ask.

I'm a little confused. You asked if you should buy a car in the states and have it shipped. If you are in a position to buy a car free and clear, why not pay off the one you already own and have your employer pay for shipping? I suppose you could mean you would be buying a much cheaper car?

I would really consider taking advantage of the relocation offer. Even if they won't ship it back, if you leave, you can probably sell it here and make money.

Exactly-looking to purchase cheaper car-still owe for two years on the one that I currently have. Although, it is the second car I have purchased with them I am just not sure they will allow me to take it. So, I thought of purchasing outright a cheaper car to ship. Seems like it might be the way to go!
