Good Afternoon,
How is everyone doing? On September 11th I will be arriving on St. Thomas. I have a place to lay my head for the first month while looking for employment and a permanent apartment. If anyone has any advice/info as to a good area to live, as I am moving there by myself. A furnished place would suit me best, however I am not limiting my options by any means.
As for employment, I once again would greatly appreciate any input . I have worked in the food service industry for the past 28 years, waiting tables is my preferance, however I have also done bartending, hostessing, managing and training .
I would also like to do some type of volunteer work once i arrive, so, any suggestions on that as well would be greatly appreciated. On this, i am completely open to any suggestions.

Have a wonderful evening,

Annie

September is a good time to get here (as long as there are no serious storms looming), as the seasonal workers have yet to return, so there are many jobs, especially in your area of expertise, and apartments available. Keep reading the Island Trader http://islandtrader.vidaily.com/, rent a car when you arrive so that you can travel to different places to check out the various apartments for rent and cars for sale, practice saying "Good Morning" (or "Afternoon/Evening/Night") as your greeting instead of "Hi" or "How ya doin" and prepare yourself for S-L-O-W...slow everything...it's how it's done here, accept it. Hope your move is a pleasant one!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PACE TO LIVE YOU SHOULD DETERMINE WHERE YOU WILL WORK. THIS IS A SMALL ISLAND BUT THE TRAFFIC IS PRETTY BAD. WE HAVE PLACES TO RENT SO WHEN YOU GET CLOSE DROP ME A LINE OR CALL 908-343-1595.

ALSO USE THIS PAGE AS THERE IS LOTS OF DATA ON THOSE WHO ARE MOVING.

Good Evening Billd, Thank you so much for your advice. I greatly appreciate it. Any advice I receive is priceless. I will definately be taking you up on the offer to contact you as my move draws nearer. The more knowledge I can acquire between now and September is of the utmost importance to me especially since I am making this move alone. I will be in touch in just a few more months with you. And, once again, Thank You very much

Annie
