My wife and I will be on STX for New Year's Eve this year. Are there any unique or interesting events going on, or do any bars or restaurants have anything special happening?

We wanted to go to Jost, but there's no room at the inn. If anyone with a boat wants to invited us along, however, we wouldn't argue . . .

You mentioned you were looking for something on STX -- the ride to JVD from there is long wet and quite a journey - in case someone does offer you a boat ride make sure it is a big boat.

Oh yeah--I was being facetious. Unless it's a really big boat, I'm not going. (And I don't know anyone rich enough to have such a boat!)

The Yacht Club is having a party with a band. I think it will be $75 per person for members and $85 for non members.

Dancehall Reggae is being served up BIG Time at the Horsetrack on NYE....Elephant Man, Yellow Man, Bennie Man, JahVinci, BlackRyno, Mada Nile, and others...if that is your thing! Probably a 10pm-5am show!!

75$ is way to much for a NYE party at the yacht club.

We, the old folks, usually go to bed early, set the clock for 11:45 and wake up to eat some black eyed peas and ham hocks, kiss each goodnight and go back to sleep.

Ah, the good life.

I was intrigued by the concert when I read about it. Some of the performers I like (Mada Nile) but many I can do without. I'm not a big dancehall fan--I tend more toward roots reggae.

So you guys don't think the Yacht Club party is worth it, huh? We'll be staying downtown that night, so we'll probably look for something nearby. If my history is any guide, I'll most likely end up at the brewpub!

Thanks for the guidance on the yacht club! Zebo's could be fun, too.

If you stay up until 1:00 am then you can also watch the ball drop in Times Sq. NYC on TV.
