Hi Everyone! My roomate and I are looking to move somewhere in the VI's in January, we are hoping that gives us enough research time. I think we have decided on St. Thomas, it seems like the most populated and will therefore be the best place to find a job and a place to live. Does anyone have any advice they could give us on where to look or who to call? This website seems to cover most of it but we would love to be able to set everything up before we move. Thanks so much, we are really excited!

If you haven't been here before, you might want to do a visit beforehand to check it out. Hard to set up anything without being here. Don't rent anything sight unseen & mostly you won't find a job until you're here because employers are used to lookie-lu types who never make the move. Good luck!

What kind of work?

If you wait until January to arrive and are looking for service industry jobs, most of the best ones will already be taken for the winter/springi season. Openings still come and go, but mostly the scut jobs that nobody wants to stick in for long. Snowbird tourist season starts to pick up after Thanksgiving and is in full swing just before Xmas. Seasonal workers start to arrive en masse in October to get the best housing and job situations. Available housing in January is also picked-over and often more expensive.
