Hi Board,

I am moving down to St. Croix in January and I am wondering if anyone here is doing a low-carb way of eating (i.e. Atkins Diet). Is this possible to do on the islands (lots of meat and veggies, little fruit, almost no sugar/starch), or is this cost prohibitive?

Thanks,

Christian

Eat fish and veggies....cost isn't too bad......But, low cal would be much easier and cost effective.....

Used to do Atkins...lost about 35 lbs and put 55 back on after getting off of it. I'm doing the fish, fruit, veggies, peas-n-rice, chicken, bread thing and it is working very well.

I agree with Alix. The Atkins diet went through a big phase here and I had several customers on it who I was able to accomodate (albeit not without some Gordon Ramsay-type kitchen mutterings and groanings) but they all put back on the weight once they went off the diet. Sticking to a healthy diet here isn't either difficult or cost-prohibitive, it's the BOOZE which puts on the weight!

That ain't no joke! If I could just give up the beer........

Not gonna happen. 🙂

Though, I did switch to Mich Ultra and haven't had any trouble finding it down there!

Alix,
Try Amstel light.
Amstel has relatively the same carb content, but, in my humblest of opinions, far better taste! 🙂

May I ask which restaurant you are affiliated with?
If you would prefer, feel free to PM me.

Dear Onika,

Remember the yard sale that you eventually couldn't come to because the little one wasn't feeling well? !!!!!
