How much lead time should I allow to send packages to STX from the states ( AZ ), so they will get there a little before we do or about the same time?

Parcel Post?

I've sent things Priority from the states that took 3 months to get to St. Thomas. Other Priority packages have come in 2 days. Go figure. I'm not sure if STX is like STT when it comes to the PO or not, but here's my 2 cents- send EVERYTHING with tracking.

Good luck!

Best,

LR

Hello Terry,

Are you sending them to a mail box you already have set up or to General Delivery?

Parcel Post = regular mail... right?

Are you sending anything via Media Rate (books etc.)?

Are all going via parcel or are some going priority?

I was going to send them to the condo office.
No books.
I was planning on regular parcel post. Some boxes are 30 to 60 lbs.

Hey Terry,
We are planning the same route. We will have 25-30 boxes, and this was the cheapest route. The post office said to plan on 3-5 weeks for Parcel Post. (No, I don't always believe the P.O. But,....) Anyway, we thought we'd ship our stuff about 2 weeks before we leave the states. The condo has the basics in it from being a rental (yours probably does too). Hopefully things will begin arriving a week or 2 after we're there.

I shipped two boxes here during my move via parcel post. One was my desktop computer and one was just odds and ends. I recommend insurance just in case but I only spent $35 per box and they got here in 3 weeks. (St Croix) Just for you information.

I have shipped many boxes to STX with no problem. Have used both parcel post and Priority Mail. Since you are shipping to zone 8 the cost of Priority Mail often isn't that much more.

Time estimates are about right.

Just be sure to use heavey cartons, tape all edges and corners and everything should come through fine.

We are arriving on St. Thomas on August 1. We are starting to ship our boxes (about 25) parcel post tomorrow. We are shipping them from Key West, Florida. The post office told me 1-2 weeks, but my husband does not believe them. We'll see, I'll keep you posted.

Hello Terry,

I would say 3 weeks. I'd recommend insuring the packages - particularly if its something you'd want to be reimbursed for if lost or damaged.

Good Luck.
