hey guys, me again, i was just curious if there were certain things that it would be wise to stock up on before i move to st. thomas. i went on a scuba diving trip in utah this weekend and met a really cool lady that told me to make sure to bring pleanty of batteries, she said she bought 2 C batteries for $10, i also heard that film and developing is pretty ecpensive, anyways. if you could give me some ideas on little things like that that would be wise to buy and bring i would appreciate it.

Michael: I'm not too sure about the 2 C batteries for $10 unless it was at a resort...if you have some name brand items that you really can't live without, you might bring a supply until you can find out how/where to procur them. If you are afraid of high prices, well, that is kinda the price for living here in Paradise...

Hello Michael,

I second the ?? on the $10 batteries... you can buy batteries at LOTS of places here... grocery stores, K-mart, Radio Shack, Office Max, the music store??? and not for $5 each battery.... maybe $3.50 for a package of 2.

Film development - not really... and it you take lots and lots of pictures you can send your film to get developed at manland labs via mail. Digital prints at the photo labs are still pricey... you can dump your digital pics to an on-line print business and have them mailed to you in a couple days. No biggy.

Bring cloths with you, mens shopping stores are limited... casual wear, nice shorts, t-shirts, polos... if you like particular brands... but don't bring lots and lots of dressy cloths because casual is often what is excepted everywhere.

If you have a particular shampoo or soap thats Odd or unique... you might ask here if its available...

If you have hobbies that require materials a hobby store would have - might find a good web site or ordering company.

Everything else in terms of basic needs you can get here.... and like East Ender said everything is a bit pricier.

Hey we just moved here. Last Thursday. We have shopped for food, things for our cottage, tv, stereo, pots, pans dishes, small applicances, small pieces of furniture, all kinds of things and so far we've spent about $800.

So far at least the prices have been just great
