Marina Market is closed in Red Hook/East End, Stt. I heard the owners of Plaza Extra bought it. Don't know how true it is or when a new store will open. Anyone have more concrete information?

A store did open in American Yacht Harbor where Dolphin Dreams(?) was once located across from Coco Blue. It is almost like Choice in Anna's Retreat/Tutu or Lone Eagle in Smith Bay. A 12 pack of beer is cheaper down the street at the Total gas station/market across the street from the Red Hook Ferry :S

IMO, all the retail developments on St Thomas are the worst designs I've ever seen, so retail dies because of the poor designs. Not one retail development forces you to walk in shade past all or most of the stores, so people head for a more comfortable environment instead of browsing/shopping. Other islands I've visited, including St Croix, do a much better job of walking people in comfort past the stores.

WAPA is now the excuse for poor management for many businesses. I'm noticing now that it's no longer icy cold in some businesses, and during this winter, some turned off the a/c altogether. I think it's a good thing. Fresh air is preferable to artificially cold air.

I am really surprised that AYH allowed a mini-mart in their building. Not really a good fit.:X

That spot has been vacant for months if not a year or so. I doubt that they had many qualified people that were interested in the spot. STT has way too many stores for the limited demand, but most of the items at convenience stores are items people frequently buy, and the mark up on most snacks/drinks sold here is quite high. It's extremely difficult to succeed in retail here if your merchandise is also available Stateside and/or online.

I'm sure the mini mart will do good business there. They stay open till 2 a.m. and there's so much people down there.
