Hello All,

Can anyone tell me about marinas on STX.

I am interested in finding out about anchorages and marinas or slip rental, private or commercial.

I am in the process of finding a 40-45 foot sailboat, for a live aboard.

Thanks for your time.

Respectfully,

Will

If nobody here responds with specific info, you can call around to ask. There are 4 boating centers on STX that I know of:

Salt River Marina, managed by Jones Maritime 340-773-4709

Christiansted Harbor/Gallows Bay. Contact St. Croix Marine 773-0289 or Jones Maritime, to start with.

Green Cay Marina 718-1453

St. Croix Yacht Club 773-9531.

Once you get down here you'll be able to check out the marinas. For slip costs, they run $13 s.f. and up to $20 s.f. per month. DPNR isn't giving any more moorings in the harbor but they do have moorings over by Gallows Bay. Don't know what they will be charging for them but right now they arent' getting any money for the boats that currently sit out there.

Jones Maritime has its own small marina on the boardwalk.

Live aboard slip fee at Green Cay is $25 per foot per month, plus utilities. This is the best marina on island but you pay for it. Good facilities, showers, etc. Security is good. No swells to worry about. Laundy machines work most of the time. Tennis courts and beach club facilities at Tamrind Reef hotel is included in your slip fees. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

I agree. Green Cay Marina is a very clean place with nice amenities. Along with Salt Bay, it has a reputation as a hurricane hole.
