Curious. Are there martial arts Dojos in the VI? Is there a demand for them?

Searching the phone book there is nothing for Karate or Martial Arts. I would think that you could make a nice sustainable business here doing that because there is a good population of parents that have the money and would want to send their kids to an extracurricular activity like this. A summer camp would be a boon for the parents looking for something their kids could do during the summer.

Just my opinion. I hope this helps.

I've seen some kids at Nisky Center wearing their little white uniforms with the different colored belts, I think they call them gees (misspelled I know, a hard g followed by a long e). Maybe there's some sort of martial arts instruction going on in the gym there.

There are at least three martial arts schools on STX that I know of:

Evworth Charles has a Tae-kwon-do dojo in Peter's Rest. Excellent instructor.

Elite Tae-kwn-do at the Village Mall (340) 772-3040 (they also have Fitness Kickboxing.)

There is a Goju dojo in Frederiksted, but I can't remember the name of it.

STX has quite a few martial arts practitioners, and regular tournaments...not familiar with the STT schools, but they come over to STX for tournaments and the students are usually really good.
