I saw the story this morning. Was thinking about Mapp. Population of Maine is over 1.3 M. The governor makes $70K. This is what I call responsible leadership. Living life of your constituents.

And how much is Mapp's salary? Of course the article does say they would like to double the salary for the next governor.

Government is vastly overpaid here but let us not put LePage as someone to admire. He hired his daughter (with no work experience) to be an assistant to his chief of staff at $41k/yr, plus benefits of $15k/yr and a housing stipend of $10k/yr even though she lived at home

Who really wants the job.
Even at $150,000
Anyone reading this ever run for Governor?

I highly doubt it. There have been many admirably qualified people here over the years who would have excelled in public service up to and including the gubernatorial level but even the salary and perks isn't sufficient to persuade them to enter the lair when they feel they can accomplish so much more in the private sector.
