Hi everyone,

I once lived in St. Croix when I was wild, impressionable, and most importantly, single. OK, it was from 1979 to 1985 - which just happened to be the best years of my life (19-25).
Anyway, I've spent nearly the past 20 years looking for utopia - (e.g. the closet thing to the V.I.) - and have not found it. I lived in Australia over a year with my Aussie wife in Perth, on the Indian Ocean. It's a fantastic place, it's not the V.I.
What I'm getting at, is that I'm ready to relocate back - and for good - to the islands. I left originally because I had no appreciable trade and needed to find a career while I was still relatively young.
For the last 19 years, I've worked - and still do - at a major metropolitan newspaper in the nation's capital as a sports writer. Yes, I know, It's a nasty job but somebody has to do iti
I'm just throwing out a feeler to see if anyone is looking for a writer, regardless of the subject matter. I feel I've hit a wall at my job after all these years. In layman's terms, I don't see myself progressing any further than I have already.
I'm 43, soon to be 44, and my boss loves the real youngs guys. We're talking 23 or 24, fresh out of college with no experience. I'm very familar with all three islands. Any leads, info, or tips, would be greatly appreciated. Yea, mon!
Thanks,
Ken

The St. Croix Avis was recently advertising for a writer. You might check that out.

I'm sure you have many happy memories of STX, but remember, paradise it aint.

RIC,
No hating on St. Croix. Thank you.

Ken, I live on St. Croix and it is probably slower that when you were here in '85. Maybe that's OK for your lifestyle. You're still young and have years to go in your career. I'm not sure you will make the money you are accustomed to coming from DC. We will be happy to have you, but will you (but more importantly, your wife) be happy to have us?
Plan a trip next time AA Netsavers has a special fare. A visit may answer some questions for you.
