Just watching the senate hearing from yesterday and wondering who on island is licensed to do mold remediation or did they have to go off island to find someone. Anybody know?

Years ago, when we we're still going back and forth, water got into the garage. Had some leftover tile in cardboard boxes laying on the floor. Ventilation wasn't so good down there and over the course of two months, black mold took over.
I decided to deal with it myself and unknowingly breathed it into my lungs. Apparently I'm highly alergic to it. It really kicked my ass. High fever and knocked me for a loop for a solid two weeks. That was not a fun vacation!
Keep it clean, dry, and we'll ventilated.

I don't have a mold issue. I was just curious in the options the DOL had for having their problem re mediated. It struck me as odd when she said the first floor had been cleaned and was cleared for occupancy but the second floor still needed to be finished...

And quite sure that in a yr or so we will be paying for it to be done again

Black mold is highly toxic and if you are allergic it can be deadly. Many buildings here on St. Croix and probably all the VI have black mold.

Which black mold in particular are you referring to?

There are a lot of misconceptions about black mold. There's a huge variety of molds which are black which are NOT deadly and only proper testing can determine whether or not the particular mold is toxic.

Yep. That was my point. Had a tenant in court say the mold in the apartment made everyone sick so she should not have to pay rent. Judge asked what type was it, tenant could not answer, and that excuse was disregarded.

Thanks for the link OT. I have no clue Cruzaniron what kind of black mold is toxic. I made a blank statement without accurate knowledge. My son is allergic to mold and I don't even know what kind. I just freak out over mold. Sorry, I stand corrected.

Is there any product through which a person can get rid of mold permanently?

This is a pretty good product, I've used it in the past Lowe's has it maybe HD:

Concrobium 128-fl oz Liquid Mold Remover

Concrobium Mold Control® is a patented solution that effectively eliminates and prevents mold and mildew with no bleach or harmful chemicals. It can also be used to get rid of musty odors. The product works as it dries by crushing mold spores at the roots and leaves behind an invisible antimicrobial shield that prevents future mold growth. Use Concrobium Mold Control for mold and mildew clean-up and prevention, general interior maintenance, water damage restoration and during construction/renovation (paint prep and pre-treatment of building materials).
  • Eliminates, cleans and prevents mold, mildew and musty odors

  • Contains no bleach, ammonia or volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

  • Penetrates to the roots of mold and leaves an antimicrobial shield

  • EPA-registered

  • Effective on hard and fabric surfaces

  • Works on drywall, wood, composite wood, plastic, concrete, siding, shingles, metal, brick, stone, tile, grout, stucco, fabric, furniture, upholstery, flooring, rubber and more

There's a misconception about black mold and you are right, not all black mold is dangerous.  Bleach is not effective and doesn't kill it but most people do not understand that.

For surfaces that can be painted Zinsser Mold Killing Primer is the bomb !!!!! It originally was developed for military but now is available to civilian market. Its one of the only products that is certified by EPA to kill mold. Ace Hardware carries it in both STT and STX and Ive seen it at HD in STX. When I used it after Irma I wiped down the surface with a damp cloth and after it had dried put on 2 coats making sure that entire surface was covered. The nice thing about it was that I didnt have to go crazy trying to clean up mold that was there. After you put the stuff on it kills the mold that is there and acts as a preventative for 4 years or so I think. It really is kinda a miracle product and works as stated..... it runs about 30-35 bucks a gallon at either place
