Good morning!
My name is Tessa and I am a 20 year old woman from the Chicago area. My dad recently accepted a job in St. Thomas and we are planning a move here. My dad will most likely move within the month and then I will move in late december/early january. My mother and 18 year old sister will follow as soon as they sell the house.

This will be an enormous change, but one that I think all of us are in need of at the moment.
I have read all of the info available from vimovingcenter.com and it has been most helpful. However, I have alot of questions about what it is like to live in the Virgin Islands and I really do not know where to begin.
I suppose I am most curious about the social scene on the island. Is this a friendly place to newcomers? Are there any places or organizations in particular that would be helpful?
Also, are there ways to meet people my age? What is the university like here?

That's enough questions for now.
If anyone could give me a few hints or some advice, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Tessa

Dear Tessa,

Reading the moving stories (What to Expect - click the box in the upper left corner of the page) will help some. Are you going to work or go to school? If you have a choice, I would go to the university. This would give you the opportunity to meet people your own age in a "natural" setting.

This is going to be an adventure. And you will certainly have ups and downs. Keep your expectations reasonable, bring lots of sunscreen and you'll do fine.

In the meantime, this board is an excellent tool. Read the moving stories and the other information offered and them come back with specific questions.

Good luck.
