Hello, moving to St. John soon. It seems so hilly that a bike is impractical. It will kill me to leave it behind but I dont want it sitting in the corner unused when I get there.

Are bicycles practical on St John?

Thanks

No, they aren't. They're more popular on St Croix where it's flatter, and there are plans to install a bike path (on island time, of course!) on STX.

Hello. I'd have to agree STJ isn't the place to ride. I'm on STT and live in an area where I was able to come up with a route consisting of a mix of pavement, gravel and broken doubletrack.

It's easy to go from STJ to STT so you may want to still bring it down.

I was without my bike the first year here and gained 50 pounds (thank goodness when I was able to ride again)!

Thanks for the replies. Im not going to have much room when I first move there and she's far to noble a beast to be used for nothing but drying swimsuits. She stays on the Continent.
