Hi {future} friends!

I am relocating to St. Thomas after many visits and settling my affairs here in Hermosa Beach, CA. I have a couple friends on the island and when I say a couple, I mean exactly 3. I am staying with one for a month while I look for a shared rental and a mode of transportation. A few concerns I have are listed below and would appreciate any feedback. I am also looking to exchange emails with more people between now and my move so I can make more friends.

I am an experienced yoga instructor and bartender so I have been told finding work should be fairly easy. Possibly part time at a resort teaching Yoga and bartending at night.

My concerns are (please feel free to answer 1, all or none):

1. What is it like making friends of the same sex? I have some great girlfriends I am leaving behind who will come visit but it is important to me to make good friends I can count on.

2. Finding a primary doctor, is there a forum or place I can research and plan to meet once I arrive?

3. Health Card, I know things move slower here but I want to try and work as soon as possible when I arrive...how long does the Health Card process take?

4. Gyms- I currently a member of a health club, what are the options on St. Thomas. Is there a major chain health club or smaller ones more typically used?

I guess that is it for now!

Would love to hear back from anyone!

FRIENDS - get involved with activities that you enjoy to meet people. It is easy to develop friends if you make yourself friendly.

DOCTOR -- once you arrive, ask people who they prefer as a doctor. There are many good options.

HEALTH CARD -- I do not know that process

GYMS --- Yes, there are Gyms and Health Clubs. There are not many, but you will find one that fits your needs.

Easy for you to make friends -- network and also through whatever job you find - don't be afraid to try new activites and you will find like minded individuals.
Plenty of Drs. ask for recommendations - I like Dr. Hartshorn and his parter Judy Whitly
If you take your stool sample to a private lab 1st thing in the morning, pick it up by 1pm and go to the clinic at RLS you can do it in one weekday easily.
You may be able to trade teaching your Yoga class for gym time.
