Moving a rabbit to the islands

I will be relocating to St. Croix from Texas in December. My daughter has a pet rabbit that she is very attached to, so we want to bring him. I have found much information on travelling with dogs and cats, but nothing on a rabbit. Can anyone help me out with what may be required legally from me to bring the rabbit?

Dear Jenny,

Others on this forum might be able to give you better information but, off the top of my head, I think that you'll have to have a current health certificate for the rabbit, same as you need to have for a dog or a cat.

You might want to call veterinarian Andrew Williamson here on STT (340) 775-3240 for what might be a quick answer. Doc Williamson is a veritable font of information on "exotics" and all else and if he can't help you he'll immediately tell you who to call. Good luck!

Hello Jenny,

Also contact the Dept. of Agriculture at (340)774-5182 on St. Thomas. The Vet there is who will likely be able to answer best on what the local regulations/restrictions are, if there are any.
