Moving Around the Different Islands

I was wondering if anyone had information concerning traveling from island to island. I know that there are fairies that transport people. Lets say I lived on St. Thomas and wanted to spend the weekend on St. Croix...could I drive my car to a dock, board a boat, taking my car with me for the weekend? St. Thomas to St. Johns? St. Thomas to Puerto Rico? If so, what would the cost be?

Also, I was have been trying to track down stories from some of you who have moved recently. I have had some success, but was wondering if some of you (if you find the time) could give a synopsis of your move? What went well? What you would have done differently?

No car ferry b/w STT and STX. There is a fast passenger ferry, but running on a reduced schedule due to summer season. I believe it is approx. 45 mins. to an hour, but have not taken it myself so am probably wrong.
STT to STJ has a short passenger ferry ($3) AND a car ferry (around $20--can't recall exactly). You are looking at a 15-25 min. ride depending on passenger or car.
STT to SJU has a passenger ferry that runs on alternate weekends and is capacity-driven, meaning that the schedule may change or the departure cancelled on little notice.
We also have a passenger ferry to Tortola and/or to Virgin Gorda. ($40RT)
Also, the seaplane is an excellent transportation tool for travel to STX and to SJU. The travel time is reduced to about 25 mins. Fares run from $75 specials to STX to $150 reg. fare to SJU.
So, if you have some extra $$$, there are many ways that you can get off the Rock at a relatively low cost.
BTW, don't mean to be a grammar/spelling-freak, but I love your malapropism regarding "fairies that transport people." Haha. I conjured up an image of little mocko-jumbie fairies flying travellers back and forth between the isles.

Moving stories---check out Moving Guide at top of webpage and select What to Expect. There are several stories from recent transplants.

Good luck!

If you go to the home page of this site http://www.vinow.com and look in Frequently Requested Informaiton - a little table in the middle of the page more or less - there is a link to Ferry Schedules with all the combinations, times, operators...

The summer ferry from Stt-Stx takes an hour and 45 minutes its a smaller less fast one then the Fast Ferry that runs during season.
