Hi guys,

I'm in the process of apartment-hunting in STX, and right now I'm gathering info prior to a visit next month. I'm trying to find a quiet and safe neighbourhood away from the cities. I have a few leads in Golden Grove, Queen's Quarter and an area in the rainforest. What might I expect from each of these neighbourhoods?

Thanks,
Karen

When you use the term "cities" to describe Frederikstad and Christiansted it makes me think that you do not have a real concept of St Croix. There are no cities on St Croix. Nothing even as big as Charlotte Amalie on St Thomas, or maybe even Cruz Bay on St John. There is the "Sunny Isle" commericial area that has a Kmart, grocery stores and fast food restaurants, but nothing that can be called a city. Christiansted is a wonderful low key tourist town that is on the water and has banks, restaurants and tee shirt shops. (editorial opinion). As far as choosing an area to live, you must first come to the island and spend time asking questions and reading the newspaper. I would never live anywhere but the east end. It has the uglier scenery, but it is less built up (relatively), and has fewer problems.
It is also more expensive than other areas on the island. But you can find some wonderful places to live all over St Croix. What do you need to be near? Schools?Shopping? Work?transportation? That can help you make your decision. There are a few areas on St Croix (like any place) that you might not want to live in, but you can only find that out by being here and asking questions. Don't make any housing decisions until you can actually see where you are living. Best of luck..bill

SSSOOOOOOO I would like to get to know some one from St. Croix before I get there! Ya know what I mean!! By the way I'm a 23 year old female that belongs on an island and just wants to start living!!! Did I forget to mention I'm from Wisconsin!!!! Understand what I'm getting at!!!
