Will I need any references to rent an apartment on Water island? I am a paralegal and how is the job market there and what are the best jobs offered there--I want to work in the court houses, but until i get there and get settled I will need a job pretty quick so I can keep my self a float while i am getting settled

Not usually, for asking for references for apartments, but you might bring it just in case, if you have one already. Job market for paralegal - you might quicker find a job in a lawyers office or a law firm then at the court house. But once here for a while you could look into the court house jobs.

Alisa: Whoa, slow down! You are probably not going to find the perfect job "pretty quick"- very little happens "pretty quick" in the VI! You say you want to live on Water Island. Have you been there to visit? My mantra is "come for a longish visit"- you need to see the lay of the land for yourself. You will need to make contact with the legal community and find out what is what. You need to see how on earth you are going to get from Water Island to work. How are you going to tote your groceries around? You should start with the navigation bar here, as I think Islander already said. Good luck to you!
