Moving to Hull Bay Area

Hi everyone. We are moving to Hull Bay in July sometime (depending when our house is finisned being renovated). I have heard that the area has a character all its own and I would be curious to hear what folks who know the area think about it. We liked it especially because it is quiet - we have two young kids- and undiscovered (relatively) by the tourists.

Any comments would be great to hear.

Thanks,
Aaron

Well, it's certainly got "characters" all it's own! Haha! But, since Larry sold the bar, it's not quite the same! haha! J/K. Hull Bay is a very nice, quiet, residential area. The beach is a good local hang-out on the week-ends. Hull Bay Hadeaway is still a great place. The North Drop is doing well, nice place. E&M is just up the road. Hop and a skip to Sib's. Great area, Hull Bay.

Hull Bay beach is dog-friendly.
That may or may not be good news to you.
It is also a VERY safe neighborhood.
That, I am fairly certain, is good news to you.

I lived in Hull Bay for three years, 1999 to 2002. It's quiet, but after awhile you get what's known as "island fever". The island is only 3 miles wide by 13 miles long, so after awhile for a state-sider it's boring. Fine for vacationing, but all the time, no, not for me.
I ended up back here in the good-ole USA.

"Rock Fever" doesn't happen to everyone...I haven't been off island in almost 3 years, lived here for over 8...still feels like home to me.

Marty, have you really not left the island is 3 years?!?!?!
Not even to Puerto Rico or Tortola???

Yes, it's true Rick Fever doesn't happen to everyone. Me, I'd go nuts if I didn't leave at least twice a year!

Thanks everyone for your comments. For a family with kids the area seems pretty ideal. We will have a dog, so dog-friendly is really a big plus. We will be off island three or four times a year so I am not that worried about rock fever. With two kids under 7, I don't know that we could feel any more trapped than we are already! I just love how "local" the feeling of the area is. We have met somebody everytime we walk around the neighborhood who wants to chat and welcome us. I will get a small boat for the bay, once we get settled. It is a bit of a daily haul to get the kids to and from school at Antilles in Frenchman's Bay, but you can't have everything. Thanks a lot for the comments. Five more weeks and we are "on-island." I think the next year is fully booked with friends and family coming down to visit. We need to start working on next year's social calender!

Aaron
