Try Craigslist VI, the What's going on St.. Thomas group on FB, or the Island Trader, issued on Thursdays and viewable online. Your budget is fine for a one br, but your best bet will be to find temporary lodging and then locate a place after you move.

You can usually drive around the North side and find apartment for rent signs posted all over the place on the sides of the road. Have you decided which location would be closer to your work? There is quite a distance between the two locations Island speaking. But if you are coming from the states where you have a two hour commute, then it would like a Sunday afternoon drive.

You might have to wait until you get here to pick one up.
One used to be able to locate it on the Daily News site but didn't find it when I looked. Daily News also has a classified section.

Hardest part will probably be getting lost while trying to follow directions
to view a rental.
