Hello Valerie,

You might contact http://www.sunrealty.vi for info on real estate.

The St. Croix Orchid Society I believe has their showing in Feb or March.
Try contacting Rita L. Forbes at 340-773-0046 or [email protected]
You can try and e-mail Mauricette Brin at [email protected] and see if that is still current.

Also contact the St. Croix Botanical Gardens

http://www.sgvbg.org/membership.html

They have an orchid collection http://www.sgvbg.org/orchids.html
and might be able to help with details on orchids in the islands and bringing them in.

There are restrictions to bringing plants with soil. The soil being the problem in most cases. You might contact the Dept. of Agriculture and see if they can help. Local office number is (340)778-0997

Valerie,
As a to-be resident of STX, and an orchid grower, you're in a for a treat. One of STX's former part-time resident owned one an extremely prolific orchid collections in the USVI and even had an orchid named for her, AlyKai (short for Alyce Kaiser) I think a BLC. I think Yamamoto nursery named the orchid for her and it was featured in the monthly AOS pub. I used to take care of Mrs. Kaiser's orchids (about 3-4 greenhouses full) and there was a lady of French decent, I want to say Mrs. Brinn, that used to come by check the orchids for diseases etc every so often. So, your orchids, will be in good hands and environs. Good luck on your move.
