Hi, we are 2 girls moving to St. John from Los Angeles at the end of June and we are looking for a place to stay. Our plan is to stay at a hotel until we find a place. Suggestions on cheap hotels or temporary rooms would be really helpful.

We are looking to find a one or two bedroom that we can share close to cruz bay around 1000 email us at [email protected] with ANY advice.

Thank you!!

I have a few hints, there is no way on St. John you will be able to find a 2 bedroom place for 1,000 a month. More like 2,500. When comparing living pricing on this very small pristine island think of living in Manhattan. The best piece of advice I could give you is to SAVE a lot of money before you get down here, food is VERY $$$, and housing is VERY $$$. I would suggest looking at the Inn at Tamarind court for a place to stay until you find a place to live, this should be#1 priority because no one will hire you unless you can prove you have a home. My boss has an apartment for rent 3,400 a month 2 bedroom if you are interested? It's a cute place.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I would check the classified ads in the http://www.stjohntradewindsnews.com/ for housing etc, There are a lot of apartments on the market, I would not hesitate to negotiate prices! From what I understand from Island friends, NOTHING is renting! Also you will have a lot more opportunities when you get on island, go to Connections they have a bulletin board full of listings for rent, jobs etc. Also most people will not rent to someone sight unseen. Staying at the Tamarind for the first week is a good idea, or a short term room rental in someone's home.

Good luck!

Me and a friend will be moving to STT in July. We are also staying in a hotel for about 5 days to try to find a place to live. We have rented a car to get around. I called a local real estate agent and she said she would meet us and show us some places that are in our price range. I think we should be able to find a place in a few days with the help of a real estate agent, if not they have some month to month rentals. My best advise to you would be to contact someone that can show you places that are for rent.

I live in a 2 bedroom and pay $1200.

There are plenty of places for rent these days.
