Hi to everyone using the message board!
My name is Don and am looking to move out there sometime this coming November. As I'm sure you all know the biggest obstacle is; where do I live. I would like to appeal to anyone who is willing to share a roomate/expenses. I have been to St. John about 13 years ago and stayed at Caneel Bay while on vacation so I know the island somewhat. I am planning on working at the Westin in Cruz Bay through a transfer from another Starwood Hotel, so work will be established. Thanks! Don

Don,

All the best with your move. There is a guy named Matt who posted on the 14th - go down the page a bit and look for it - he was moving to St. John on the 21st on this month... perhaps you can e-mail or talk with him about finding a place and being room-mates. Worth a try. Also see if the Westin will put you up for 1 or 2 nights when you first get here, while you look for something.

Also Chris and Pete on this board are pretty helpful (both moved to St. John); they might be able to make other suggestions for finding a place. Pete posted a review when you finished moving you might read it at

Good Luck.

I'm thinking of moving to St. John as well. I don't yet have a job lined up. Any suggestions on finding work and roommates? (By the way, I just moved out of Somerville, MA).

No. I'm not there yet. I'll be heading down there in a few weeks, though. I imagined that the second week in November would be a good time for hotels to be hiring for their busy season.

why don't you check with the Westin human resource dept.?They might have a list of employees looking for roomates. I also think the Westin owns some apts. on the island they rent to employees. that aside, check Connections and Starfish Market DAILY!! my sister moved down aug 02, i went with her to help relocate( she had a job waiting for her) and we were at both places every morning. apts. get grabbed fast !! we also asked any one we met if they heard of a rental .also drove around looking for rental signs! took us 2 weeks but my sister also had her daughter with her and wanted a nice 2 bed. just remember to be polite to whomever you speak to. StJohnians like a "good morning" or "good evening", good manners. wonderfull people !! good luck with your new adventure. enjoy everything and every one !! Theresa
