Moving to STT in 3 weeks--HELP

I am moving to STT in 3 weeks. I will be working at The Banana Tree Grill. Where exactly do I want to look at to live, or does anyone know anyone that can help me out. The Executive Chef is trying to find a place for me as well. I am probably the only person coming down there to actually work (I would be more happy where there is white stuff such as Colorado or Wyoming). I am looking to build my culinary knowledge and this opportunity came up.

Of course I won't have a car so bus line, or walking distance is important in the location as well. I am coming down originally by myself, but my girlfriend will be joining in about 2 weeks after.

Also, I have Verizon Cell phone service. Am I going to have to scrap that for one of the islands' providers? I saw Sprint and someone else on another board. I thank all in advance, and I hope I can pull this off in such short notice.

Rokk Robbster (If that in fact really is your name..),

I really can't help you, but I just wanted to say that the chef at Banana Tree Grill is awesome. Every meal we had there was superb. That was one restaurant we had to go to before we moved off island. STT Resident might chime in her praises of the chef as well. If you can stay at Bluebeard's (which you might know is where the restaurant is located) for a short time and then find housing, that might be ideal. I really don't know of any housing within walking distance. The hill alone would kill me. I am scared to drive it, let alone walk it. I am sure someone has some info for you. Good luck!

when you get there pick up a Island Trader or have your new island buds look for you for places perhaps in town. Wouldn't be too bad for distance to work. The restaurant is one of the most popular on the island so you will gain a positive experience I am sure. Check into Villa Fairview with Ronnie, which is short term housing and he is a great guy and very helpful! Good luck!

RR - you're SO fortunate to have landed a position with Patrick at BTG. He's an awesome chef and a great person too. Good luck, and don't worry about accomodation - everything will fall into place when you get here. Congratulations and welcome!

you like the white stuff huh, haha, I'm from Indiana so the white stuff here isn't as beautiful. Good luck, sounds like a sweet opportunity.
