The first thing to do is call 888-777-8343 , option #3 which is the Tricare Latin Countries number for administration; and note that the Latin part is simply how they decided to place USVI under that designation, not literally a Latin location, of course. The web site and email is also at http://www.tricare.mil/mybenefit/home/overview/Regions/RegionsNonUS/LatinAmericaCanada?CFID=59431161&CFTOKEN=75190590

Whatever your "plan", the info is on this site. Age is a factor and if 65 and eligible for Medicare, I hope you have already sought Part B as part of the Tricare coverages, and if not, please ask about it with Tricare.

As I plan to move to STX next year, I made inquiries and need clarification as a retired career military about Network facilities, or, Non Network, as that determines your costs. Since STX apparently has the one hospital (Juan Luis), any future need there can be very costly, or, any facility in STT as well, depending on their network status. As you may know, medical has become complicated in recent years and even the retired or disabled members, have a need to almost have an attorney to clarify coverages.

Yes, Puerto Rico has active duty facilities, BUT, you will need first a determination on eligibility based upon your "plan" as Tricare Standard, Prime, etc, best done via Tricare. The south district Tricare number is 800-444-5445.

Best of luck and success obtaining your service. If there are any retired military in STX now, any input on this important subject, would be greatly appreciated as well, by all of us affected.
