my girlfriend and i are planning on moving to USVI in late september or october. we are both very experienced in the restaurant industry and will be looking for jobs for the season. my question is if this time frame would be the best time to look for housing and jobs? i assume it is more busy in the winter months. also, which island would be the best place to start our search? the more busy it is, the better.

Hello Mitchell,

August & September are the slowest of off season. Some restaurants close for a few weeks in September/early October. October is an in-between month, things start to pick up in November. Season runs through to about May/June.

For seasonal restaurant work as far as busier the better, St. Thomas.

Welcome to the board & Good Luck with your plans.

Good luck. My husband and I are planning to move next summer. Warning: I am am newbie who has not yet been to the usvi. That said I just wanted to share some info I have found useful. You can find a lot of info by searching old post. I have seen the Villa Fairview suggested as a short term rental. I called there myself to ask a couple of questions and the proprietor was friendly and very helpful. There is a link on the main page of this site. Also something else I have found useful is the on-line edition of the Virgin Islands Daily News. Here is the address, www.virginislandsdailynews.com. If you look on the left column you will see supplements section. Click on Island Trader. I found it very useful. There are rentals listed as well as an employment section. Hope this helps. Again good luck 🙂
