Moving to VI

I am a 25 year old single female and I am planning on moving to VI this fall, so I am visiting each island briefly next week. (Still don't have place to stay... is that bad?) In St. Croix and St. THomas.

I am looking for a safe, friendly place - that will allow me to meet locals and really let me start to get to know the island - the people, the culture.

I have looked at Cottages by the Sea and the Cane Bay Reef Club. Any suggestions will be appreciated

I would also check out Villa Marigrita, or Pelican Heights. They are both Bed and Breakfast.
Do rent a car!!! Try Midwest Auto Rentals, 340-772-0438 or 877-772-0438 (toll free). They will have the car waiting for you at the airport. Very easy to deal with. I used them many times. When you leave, you just park the car at the airport.
They say it is cheaper to take the regular plane to the airport than to take the sea plane.
Have a nice time.

In St. Thomas, check out Villa Fairview:

Or stay at Mafolie Hotel if you're going to rent a car which is a good idea in any case:

If you don't already have a place to stay on STX, you may wind up finding yourself homeless. Hovensa has completely booked all the hotels for the contractors who are currently on-island on the expansion and rebuild project. Make some phone calls immediately to see if you can find a stray room that has perhaps had a prior reservation cancelled and is unexpectedly available.
