Hello,

I have been considering moving to the VI for some time now and have a question about employment.

I am 1/2 German and fluent.

Are there any opportunities where a German background could be useful? (German run hotels, German companies, Airlines or tour operators for Germans etc.)

I do have a degree in Eng. but would work at just about anything to get started.

I have been researching but really am just getting started. Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Having lived in Germany for eight years which I love and being able to speak the language and having an ex wife who is German., may I just say.....thank god none of that exists.

You'd probably be better off on the Costa Brava in Spain, where there's a whole tourist industry that caters to German tourism.

Ok, so there do not seem to be any opportunities to use the German aspect as to employment. Not even a German Managed hotel/resort?

Let me ask, is the tourism there international at all or are all things geared to Americans. I am comparing to the Bahamas where a friend of mine lives.

We have been considering a startup to cater to the needs of non-American tourists. And, there is a group of Germans and Eurpeans that are here year round.

I have also lived in Hawaii and even there a group of europeans exists.

Are the VI just too American oriented for any such idea.

Sorry about the questions. Please bear with me. Trying to find a way to add to the employment situation by investing and " bringing a business with me"?

(Sorry to say, the Costa Brava as well Mallorca, Ibiza and the Costa del Sol are already overrun.)

Thanks for any reply.

Go to the DR, that's where the Germans go on the cheap charter trips. The VI do get visitors from all parts of the world, but they pretty much fend for themselves. We do have German's here as wel as countless other countries, but yes the vacation experience is American, as we are, so to speak.
