Multiple Registration Stickers on Cars

Just wondering, why do so many drivers not remove the previous year(s) registration sticker(s) on their car window? All you need is a razor blade to remove the old sticker.

Some cars have so many, doesn't it block their view?

I was told that the police say it against the law to have so many on the windshield. Don't know if it true.
There are more pressing traffic violations to enforce than multiple stickers, but if you do get pulled over during a roadblock, do the police say anything about it?

A friend's friend was pulled over and told to remove the old ones. Don't know how many old ones were on their windshield.

They have the old ones on their cars probably because they pay someone to get their registration stickers for them and they just slap the new one on without removing the old one. If you actually take your car in the person inspection the vehicle will remove the old one before putting the new one on.

I've been pulled over for having more than one sticker on the car I was driving. It wasn't my car, but the police officer did have a razor blade and removed the old stickers and gave a warning. But then again, there are taxi drivers here that have about a dozen of them on their windshield and don't seem to have any problems with the police. So go figure.

In my experience, when the BMV hands you your new registration card, the new sticker is stapled to it. You don't have to put it on right that second.
I go home, get my razor blade, scrape off the old one, clean the area with windshield cleaner, the put the new one on. Simple as that.

If you do want to put it on before you leave the BMV parking lot, just have a razor blade handy.

Usually the BMV workers won't put one on for you, unless they not busy and want to be helpful, usually the inspectors will do it for you. If they have something to remove the old one(s) or you can provide something for them.

I can see if they get someone else to do the registration/inspection for them and that person just slaps it on. Still simple to remove the old ones in your spare time. JMO

A few years back I put my sticker on upside down in error. I was stopped about three times. each officer turned their heads to read the number 4 upside down and said OK you go.:S

I was tempted to put my "6" registration sticker on upside down to get 3 extra months out of it.

I'm so proud that my beast has passed the inspection twice that I'll proudly display both stickers - Here on STX that's a selling point 😎
