So, we were headed into Tutu from Smith Bay. I have never come in to Tutu this way. As we approached the police station on left I saw police SUV get behind me. We were going to McDonalds for ice cream for the baby. I did not see the no right hand turn sign so I turned. Lights on. I asked the lady why I was being pulled over. She just told me to give here my paperwork and license. I told my wife to just take the baby in for ice cream. She finally emerged from her car and handed me two tickets. One for illegal right turn, one for no VI drivers license. I said, "there is a sign there?" and I got "same sign been there 25 years". I told her I have never had a moving violation in 25 years + of driving and said I was sorry and I surely wouldn't have committed a ticketable offense, especially when I knew she was behind me. Her response, "well you have a ticket now". I was cordial and showed respect the entire time, but that response made me follow up with "congratulations you have made St Thomas WAY safer today. Perhaps if you solved murders with the same gusto as you give snide comments this island wouldn't be ahead of third world countries for homicide rates". At least the ice cream tasted good. Before I get flamed, yes I realize now I broke a traffic law and I'm at fault but the attitude of police here is the same as the States. It truly is no wonder people are turning on the police department across the globe. To protect and serve has become to COLLECT and harass.

So you're complaining about a police officer doing her job?
Seriously, how could she not give you any ticket when you committed the traffic violation right in front of her?

I don't see anything wrong with her comments to you.
Did you expect her to become your best friend while giving you the tickets? Your snarky comment to her was unwarranted. She was doing her job. Your tickets, deserved. Congrats.

How about a warning? Especially for someone who has never had a moving violation in their life. Her attitude was horseshit from the get go. Even giving my wife a hard time about taking the baby to McDonalds. She was supposed to stand in scorching asphalt while I waited. My wife, who isn't a person who gives her opinion like me, even said what a shit attitude this lady had. Did you miss the part where I acknowledged I broke a law? Was there any reason for the "same sign been dare 25 years" comment? I have been here less than 1 year. Have never been that way and was following the car 2 in front of me who made the exact same illegal turn. I'm going to pay because I was in the wrong, her attitude can get shelved as far as I'm concerned. I'm tired of all police walking around with it. It isn't an exclusive db trait to the VI.

I agree with Spartygrad. Getting pulled over is bad enough. I doubt he did it on purpose. The signage here sucks. The officers attitude was unnecessary. She could have given a warning or issued a summons that didn't carry points. It a case of DWW.

Grow up. The sign has been there forever and you're supposed to be paying attention when you're driving. Why should she give you a warning that you think you're entittled to instead of the tickets? Weren't you complaining in another thread about motorists that don't obey road signs? As for admitting you were in the wrong, well... a bit hard not to when she saw you do it. What did you want? An award?

I won't even say it's DWW. I will give people the benefit of the doubt for that.. It is just the prevailing attitude of police. Period. I know EXACTLY when this changed. 9/11/2001. After the terrorist attack we were bombarded with how first responders are HEROS. Well, they all aren't. They all believed that though.

Yellow line crossovers. Not stopping. Did I say they should be ticketed? I had to walk out to road to see sign. It is poorly placed. It could be for the road that leads to Allied. "You have one now". Yeah. That is professionalism after nothing but yes ma'am no ma'am from me.

The cops job is to give the summons not an attitude. Getting stopped is bad enough you don't need your nose rubbed in it. File a complaint against the cop. It stays in their permanent personnel file.

If the sign is poorly placed then take pictures or a video and fight it in court. Many times the officer does not show up and you win by default.

there is a sign by the pueblo in golden rock on stx that tells you not to turn right into the parking lot after you go through the traffic light. i had been going that way for 9 years and never saw the sign-ever. it was finally pointed out to me. when i drive in that intersection i still dont see it

Alana. Walk up to that sign one say. It is BEFORE the entrance to Allied. Way before the entrance to Mall/McDonalds/Office Max. It is there, it is vague. Again, my problem isn't the ticket, it's the attitude.

I don't have to walk up to the sign sparty. I know exactly where it is and see it every time I drive by. I don't necessarily like your attitude towards me but I don't whine and complain about it either on a forum. If you don't like her attitude take it up with VIPD. Why should she have believed that you've never gotten ticketed previously? I'm sure she hears all kinds of excuses by drivers getting tickets. Perhaps your attitude towards her generated hers towards you, if she had one. I'm done here. Have a great day.

See, there you go again with the personal attack comments towards me as you often do which are completely unnecessary, unwarranted, unbecoming and unwelcome. Think you can learn to refrain from this?

There is no reason for a rude comment, just because we disagree.

Sounds like you're actually upset about her shitty attitude, not her citing you.

Your post makes it sound like you're pissed off that she gave you a ticket for breaking the law, which, as others have posted, would be rather childish.

Personal attacks? Nope. Not upset since I broke a law. Upset the attitude started from get go. I'll pay the fines.. I remember watching Berreta and Sammy Davis Jr.. "don't do the crime if you can't do the time.."

"Perhaps your attitude towards her generated hers towards you, if she had one. I'm done here. Have a great day." I just don't play your passive aggressive bs games. Then you come back pouty when someone has an attitude after comments like this?
