How much is it to get nails done in STT? (Acrylic). On the mainland they have the cheaper shops that do a full set for 17, fill for 12. Do they have anything like that there or do you have to go to more expensive full service salons?

Hmmm, guess people have better things to do than get their nails done in STT. 🙂

Call Erica's at 774-2424 for prices. There's a cheaper nail salon by the town K-Mart but I don't know the name or phone number.

$30 - $35 for a hair cut? Is that for a male or female?

Female. You can go more expensive or cheaper. Just like the mainland, prices vary.

$30- $35.00 for a female cut is reasonable. I pay $27.00 here in Texas.

Have to laugh, when I read the name of the thread, I was thinking nails....the kind you hammer in!!! Screws are better in most cases, tho not all!
Nails.....the last thing on my list, infact not on my list at all! After living thru several hurricanes, I feel there are too many things that are far more important in life. BUT, I am a country girl and had to cut and chop wood and rode motorcycle so these kind of things were never for me. My daughter on the other hand will spend her last dollar on getting her nails done! LOL!
As I am getting some gray, I decided tho to get my hair cut, dyed, eyebrows done.....cost me $150 and the was the FIRST AND LAST time I did that!!!!!! I could not believe it! Back to a haircut once every 6 months or so and the rest done myself! The states are FAR cheaper!
Good Luck to you!

I think that $30-35 for a ladies' haircut is extremely reasonable!!! I paid $45 (which, believe me, was relatively inexpensive compared to most other salons) back in Raleigh, NC. Most salons there got $55 and up for a ladies' cut. I am paying less here than I did back there, for a great cut, too!!!

Nail salons are ridiculously expensive here. Once you adjust, if you still want to spend the $$, I have heard the one in Mandela Circle (next to Natural Food) is good. If you have anywhere to be within 3-4 hours of your appointment, don't go to ProNails in Nisky.

Thanks again Onica and others as well for the helpful insider info.
I think maybe I'll give the acrylics a rest and see if I can get my nails to grow healthier by themselves...put the money to use elsewhere.....maybe I'll get my hair done. lol.

In STX, a hairdresser used to come to the now closed bar Changes in L'attitude and cut peoples hair for $10. And since the day she came was hot dog day, everyone got a free hot dog too!! Now that is a deal...;)

Haircut for $45-55, whew! That's almost $600 a year just for haircut alone. I better change job. 🙂

Here in our area, a JC Penney cut is $25, and I thought it's expensive because we previously lived in central FL, and chain saloon cut was only $12.

Well, I guess, everything is relative.
