Name Calling

My fellow employees sometime call me by my first name and sometimes by my last. I never experienced the latter on the mainland. They all treat me well, but what's going on?

Usually people call you by the last name. Especially working for the government. Just a tradition.

I agree. When I was in the Air Force everyone called everyone by their last name. I get both at my current job so I don't think it has to do with anything.

Nah, if you work for the government, you get a brand-new scare-quoted NICKname (e.g., Alicia "Chuckie" Hanson).

Election season is just getting under way.

You'll see what I mean.
